Performers:
Ben Markovic – piano

Programme:
Haydn Piano Trio no 30 (Gypsy)
Schubert Piano Trio no 2 in E-flat major
Event Summary:
Director of Music at St Mary’s Barnes Ben Markovic brings together a trio of highly accomplished performers for a programme of Haydn and Schubert.
Both pieces are nicknamed ‘Wanderer’. Haydn’s trio was written in London in 1795 and is his best-known piano trio. Its first movement contains a number of Gypsy tunes and the rondo finale is in ‘Hungarian’ style.
Schubert’s voluminous trio is one of Schubert’s major compositions and has strong links with the poem Der Wanderer by Georg Schmidt.
