Purcell School
Event Summary:
The Purcell School is based on the outskirts of London, in Hertfordshire, and is Britain’s oldest music school. Entry to the School is based upon musical ability and potential, not upon background or ability to pay. The School’s community is one of rich creativity and mutual support, and students regularly perform at concert halls across the UK, compete in international competitions and win scholarships to the best music colleges in the UK and abroad.
This recital showcases some of the finest young musicians from around the globe, with a programme of 19th Century chamber music including Walter Rabl’s rarely performed Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, which was awarded first prize by Brahms in a Viennese competition in 1896.
