Welcome

Welcome to the Barnes Music Festival

We are delighted to present the programme for this year’s Barnes Music Festival with the theme of Musical Roots exploring the origins, influences and impacts of music.

We have an exciting programme with 40 events over two weeks at venues across Barnes.  We open with Britten’s Noyes Fludde and the middle weekend features Garsington Opera’s Trial by Jury.  Star performers include pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, baritone Roderick Williams, Tenebrae Associate Artists, Fieri Consort, Aurora Orchestra and the innovative Swedish group Barokksolistene.

Everyone is invited to join in the Come & Sing St John Passion with Hilary Campbell and the Singalong Disney Songs with Ben Parry.  We have a host of chamber recitals and choirs, and special appearances from Alan Titchmarsh, Sir Thomas Allen, Gyles Brandreth and Howard Goodall.

Our local groups Barnes Music Society, Barnes Community Choir, Barnes Concert Band and St Michael’s Choir bring their special performances to the festival and we will again have our Schools Concert, Toddlers Concert, Music in the Dark and Tony Palmer’s film at Olympic.  We are honoured to have Tasmin Little as the adjudicator for the Barnes Young Musician of the Year.

The number of Benefactors and Friends has grown considerably in the last year, reflecting the strong sense of community which the festival engenders.  We are grateful for their enthusiastic support as well as for the invaluable support of our principal partner Chestertons and our major partner Russell-Cooke.

We love being able to involve so many great musicians, from international stars to local groups, in the festival and bringing the enjoyment of wonderful music to Barnes.  We look forward to welcoming you!
