Event Summary:
Classic FM rising star Jeneba Kanneh Mason made her debut at the BBC Proms at just nineteen with the Chineke! Orchestra. In the 2024/5 season she performs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic. Jeneba is releasing her first solo album as a Sony Classical Artist in Spring 2025.
Her sparkling recital programme begins with two Scarlatti Sonatas which demonstrate the composer’s variety of styles, from lightness to emotional depth. These are followed by Chopin’s Sonata no.2, considered to be one of the greatest piano sonatas of the literature. The second half opens with a pair of Chopin Nocturnes, followed by Scriabin’s impressionistic Sonata No.2. Finally, Jeneba presents a bold climax with Prokofiev’s demanding Sonata no.7, subtitled “Stalingrad”.
