Performers:
Mrs Bennet and friends
Event Summary:
“Fine Dancing, I believe, like virtue, must be its own reward” Jane Austen
Mrs Bennet is pleased to invite you to a Regency Tea Dance! You’ll be taught some of the lively dances of the Regency era. Your dance mistress will instruct you in the elegant yet somewhat unfamiliar etiquette of the Regency Ballroom and her friends will guide you through the steps. Come in Regency inspired costume if you wish. Delicious regency inspired refreshments will be served. Wear flat soft soled shoes suitable for dancing.
“Gentlemen are required to leave their swords at the door and must not enter the Ballroom with sticks or canes. Nor are pantaloons a proper dress for a Ballroom”
“Snapping the fingers and the sudden howl or yell too frequently practised ought particularly to be avoided”
From Mr Wilson’s “Etiquette of the Ballroom” 1815
